Ever since i was little, i always wanted to be a designer/architect as i love drawing, painting, innovating etc. This dream was crushed two years ago (not exaggerating) by my art teacher in school... who destroyed my passion for art and pursuing it as a career. I am now aiming aiming to go into detistry but my desire to be a designer keeps haunting me and although i like science/medical subjects, i can't even be sure whether dentistry is for me. I know i can't do anything about it, as i haven't got the correct subjects at school and i will be applying to university this autumn, so a change in heart isn't the best idea.
Any advice on how to deal with dreams that are no longer in reach?
ThanksHow do you deal with crushed dreams?
It's not ';no longer in reach.'; Many designers have entered the field late and proven themselves to be stars of the designing world. You obviously have the passion. ';Religion and Spirituality'; debate aside, you've got one life to live - cherish it. If you want something, go for it. Don't live regretfully - you might find yourself in a safe white dentist coat constantly looking at life with a longing ';what if.';
You're not defeated yet - the fact that you're reaching out means that you're still fighting, albeit weakly. It's up to you what you do now.How do you deal with crushed dreams?
find new dreams........
First of all, you've already defeated yourself. To say that your dreams are no longer in reach is just you giving up. Society spends so much time making youth feel like they have to do things in life in a certain order. Graduate high school, go to college, get married, have children...What they don't tell you is that it is okay to stray from the concrete path. Stop allowing other people to dictate your life. When your teachers, parents, family, and friends have passed away/moved on...you are still the ONLY person living your life. If you aren't sure dentistry isn't for you, then it's not. You will wake up one day, thousands of dollars in debt and realize that you hate your life. So, you don't have the right courses now. Figure out what you have to do to make your dream come true. You might have to take a year of community college, or a year of night classes. Dreams aren't handed to you on a silver platter.
If you aren't willing to chase your dreams, then you don't deserve them.
