How do I deal with a crush!!?

I've liked this boy for a while and during Christmas break he started dating another girl in my class. they broke up this week and i was the first one to know because she posted it on facebook. the next day when he was walking in line for classes i gave him a friendly sorta sympathetic smile and he returned with a wary smile.at recess i asked him ';so hows life?'; he said';ok...well not so ok now..'; i said'; yeah i heard...'; and so he began talking to me about how he knows he wasn't a good bf.he's been my best guy friend since 5 th grade and i really care for him..we tease each other a lot but he can be mean sometimes and i don't think he REALLY notices me..like im not the prettiest person in the world ya know? anyways any guidance on how i should deal with this? part of me wants him happy and the other part wants him to be with me..i dont know! just help me on how to deal with it, thanks in advance!How do I deal with a crush!!?
just continue to be friends with him and the girl he can talk to about everything

Give him space for now, you don't want to be anyone's rebound. You're well on your way though, he's obviously comfortable disclosing the way he's feeling to you which is a lot coming from guys. After a couple weeks start spending as much time with him as possible. People most often become attracted to those who are near them. Flirt a little, touch him, and maintain eye contact when speaking to him. When he looks at you, smile and don't break eye contact, let him. If all goes well you should be able to gain his attention sooner than you'd think.
